Catching up

Well its been a while since my last post. We just hit week 24 and Baby Burger as she's being called is doing well and bee-bopping around in my tummy. (Burger comes from Grandpa Lupo, BGR is short for Baby Girl Reese and put that together and BGR becomes BurGeR.)

It's been an interesting few weeks. I've been feeling ok. A few weeks ago though I got strep throat and spent some time in the emergency room. It was a Sunday morning really early and I was just in so much pain and felt horrible. As a side note if you ever need to go to the ER apparently this is a slow time because we were in and out in 1.5 hours. Ended up I was dehydrated and had strep throat which made it hard to swallow and drink, hence the dehydration.

That hung on for about a week but I've been feeling much better. I'm making sure to get plenty of rest and trying to get back into walking. This ridiculuous DC hotter than Hell October is not helping. Elvis has gotten a little chubby and needs to lose 2 pounds (believe me on that little body 2 makes a difference) so the weather cooling would be welcome.

I had my last flight before the baby comes this past weekend. We went to FL to surprise my Dad for his 60th Birthday. The flights were ok, lugging crap through the airport and walking to the furthest gate every time did me in a little.

The party for my Dad's b'day was fun. He got some funny gag gifts.

We got to see family and meet my niece Mattie. She's almost a year old now.

The freakiest thing of the weekend was as my Dad was saying goodbye and said "oh well the next time I see the two of you you'll be parents." Talk about wakeup call. It is getting close. Burger should be here around Feb. 10th.

Curt seems relaxed and not stressing but I'm feeling the crunch... there's still so much to do... getting the house ready, making sure we have all the things you need for a baby and then also getting the dogs ready.

We started working on barking last week. They are too good at being watch dogs. They bark even after whatever the perceived threat has left the vicinity. Cady is easier, I can just calm her and say thank you. Elvis is learning the word shush with a squirt from a water bottle for reinforcement. He hates that bottle.

The next thing I have to do is order a CD Preparing Fido which is all babies crying to get the dogs used to the sound. We are going to have jealousy problems with Elvis so I have to call the Animal Trainer at the place we board them and see if I can get some tips.

The girls have all been planning my shower and its set for Dec 15th at my house. This works out good because I don't have to go anywhere, people deliver their gifts to the house :-) and we can hang out as long as we want and I won't feel like I'm imposing on someone else's house. I know there are plans for some arts and crafts as well so this will be fun. My Mom and Sister are flying in and not sure who else will make it from out of town.

Well that's all for now. If I get a chance later I'll add some pictures and I'll try to update this blog more often. Have a good day.
