At this point it seems like we are torturing her

Well yesterday I decided we'd give formula a try. Up until now Cailyn had only had breastmilk. My thinking was if lactose sensitivity was a possibility maybe this would help things, seeing as I drink so much milk. So I bought the Similac Gentlease formula, which is supposed to be for babies who are fussy and gassy due to lactose sensitivity.

She loved it and sucked it down. That was about 1:30 p.m. An hour or so later we went to the Botanical Garden and walked around. At one point we layed out a blanket under the trees and did some tummy time and fed Cailyn another bottle. Again she loved it.

We went home and started getting ready for Shadi's engagement party. She'd been crying a bit more than normally and fussy but I was still determined to go to the party. I started changing her and realized her entire body was all red, flush and splotchy.

One of her medicines could make her more sensitive to heat stroke and I knew it couldn't be sunburn, we were in the shade. We took her temperature and that was normal. We called the pediatrician and the on call neurologist to see if there was anything they could think of. We call came up with the same thing, she was allergic to the formula. So we dumped that crap down the drain.

Curt looked online and found a mother who had the same problem. She was breastfeeding and tried out Similac. Her babies ears turned bright red then his whole body was flush with no fever. Similac is a milk based formula and so its a problem for a lot of babies.

So I breastfed her a little later, she slept and calmed down, then she went to sleep about 1. She slept the whole night and when I woke her up this morning to give her the morning meds she was no longer my cherry tomato baby.

She seems fine now. We are still trying to get in to the neurologist at Children's this week for an appointment and to discuss admitting her to the hospital.
