Ok so I've started looking into the alternative therapies to treat Cailyn. I'm tired of her being a drugged out Zombie and honestly those things have to have some merit. I've had acupuncture, chiropractic and reiki before. Cailyn's already been to the chiropractor and today she had her first treatment with the craniosacral therapist. The woman is an Occupational Therapist as well. The chiropractor recommended her and had taken her daughter to her.
Here's an explanation of what it is:
and this description came from the Johns Hopkins Children's Epilepsy book so its not some whacky new age thingy.
I had read a little on the Epilepsy community sites of adults who had gone. They said it was very relaxing but some times they tended to have seizures during. Basically there is too much electrical charge in Cailyn's brain and this is trying to quiet it. The therapist also said this treatment could help her reflux and constipation.
Cailyn seemed to like it and it in no way hurt her. She just layed on the table and the woman massaged her tailbone area, tummy and then head and neck. Cailyn actually fell asleep.
About an hour later she was definitely smiling again and two hours later she was dancing around in her bouncy chair. Moving her arms and legs up and down which she hasn't done in months. Basically she just sits still and can sometimes move her right hand up to her face.
I will post video and photos in a little while but the change has been astounding. We are also tweaking meds and only doing the Soy formula so something seems to be working. She's still having seizures but at least she's coming back a bit.
She has two more craniosacral appointments scheduled over the next two weeks. We also got a call today that the neurologist had a cancellation for Tuesday and wants us to come up. So we'll be trekking up to Baltimore again.
I'll keep you posted. Very exciting stuff going on here. Going to feed Cailyn some avocado and a bottle now.
