Well this is good news for us, maybe not so much for Cailyn, because we like to torture her tootsies... but her feet are ticklish again.
With everything else going on it was one of the things I didn't really realize was gone. Her belly and sides aren't ticklish again yet but she is definitely waking up more and more. She's kicking and moving her arms all around and sometimes almost yelling out.
At PT today all she wanted to do was go to sleep and cried really hard, which she never does, so I was sure she was getting the cold Curt brought home and promptly gave me. I figured she'd pass out in the car and she was the exact opposite, all smiling and kicking and shot out a yah or a guh here and there. She also did much better at PT with holding her head, despite being so pissed off about being there.
The new babysitter started today so that will be a big relief. It just lets me and Curt focus more on work and Cailyn gets to play and do her exercises. Sarah is actually the aunt of one of Cailyn's little playgroup buddies Dylan.
The summer time babysitter Olivia is off from High School tomorrow so we were thinking about asking her if she wanted to come over. It's been a while since she's played with Cailyn and they have fun together.
We got a call from Johns Hopkins today asking us to be involved in a study for epilepsy. It sounds pretty easy and is funded through NIH. It's basically just an hour and a half phone call/questionaire and then blood taken from me, Curt and Cailyn. They are trying to track genes for Infantile Spasms and Lennox Gestault, pretty much the two worst childhood epilepsies, both of which Cailyn has, and comparing medicines and which ones worked best and which didn't. The hope is for kids in the future that they'll be able to test their genes and see ok this gene says the kid has Infantile Spasms and these are the best meds for their treatment. So it's not something that will help Cailyn now, but again if it's something that will help other families not go through the Hell we've been through I'm all for it.
So that's the latest for now. Cailyn has swim class again tonight and I must admit it is nice having the star in the class. My little aquarius/water baby would float around all day if the water were a smidge warmer.
The rest of the week, Cailyn will get a glimpse of her first voting booths tomorrow when Mommy and Daddy go vote, surprisingly for the same guy; then craniosacral therapy and swimming on Wednesday and a possible playdate at the library on Thursday.
