Cellulitis, Dietitian and Feeding

Well yesterday was interesting. Curt developed this infection on his leg starting Saturday. It was not open so it was weird but was hot to the touch, he had a lot of pain and it was really red. I got him in to the DR yesterday and they said he has cellulitis. He's on some antibiotics and it should clear up. Cellulitis can even be caused by an infection after a bug bite.

Yesterday afternoon was a trip to the dietitian and eating specialist. With Cailyn's allergies, the appetite supressant epilepsy meds she was on and her inability to chew properly we just needed some help all around. We've begun supplementing her Soy milk with Soy formula because the Soy does not have the calories and fat of regular milk that she should be getting. She's still growing but her weight had declined and now that she's moving she'll be burning up more and more. They did an evaluation of her overall calories and vitamins and gave me lots of good tips on all that. They also watched her eat and said to stick with purees for now, that she doesn't understand how to use her tongue to push food to the sides of her mouth to chew but now that she's rolling that should come too. We are working to get her to drink out of a straw, letting her play with her food and touch everything, so you can imagine Daddy and Cailyn dinner last night was tons of fun. A bath was a true necessity as she was covered with Beef Pilaf. It was even caked on her eyelids and eye lashes. So we'll work with her on the things we learned yesterday and then go in for a follow up in about 2 weeks.

Mommy and Daddy both have to go to the office today so Cailyn and Sarah will be on their own for a while. The OT lady comes to the house today, PT tomorrow is cancelled so she just has Thursday afternoon PT. She's a rolling fool now and just keeps going. We've added more foam pads to her play area and then took the cushions off the couch to buffer her and keep her from whacking her head on the wood floor. She does have a nice goose egg on her forehead but it's like a badge of honor now that she's a roller.
