And thankfully you can't eat too much jello...
Cailyn's drinking strike has been going on for 3 weeks now. She used to drink out of a sippy cup and had no problems. Then since the meds, or the strep throat, who knows, she doesn't want to drink. She'll take a mouth full of liquid and then just let it dribble out. At first I thought she didn't like the brand of soy milk we were giving her and I chucked almost a full carton.
We went back to the pediatrician today just to see if she can find anything else wrong and there's nothing. She's healthy, happy and has been seizure free for 11 days now, she just does not want to drink. The doctor was ready to put a feeding tube in today if I wanted it. It would be a little tube that goes up her nose and then down her throat to her stomach. The tube is a scary thought. I don't want her to get dependant on something like that and I'd like to hope one of these days she's going to drink again. She's eating so that's good and between me, Curt and the babysitters we sit with her and use a dropper to squirt the liquid in her mouth if necessary. Good thing Curt has the patience of a saint. He sat with her for 2 hours getting about 10 ounces in her yesterday. After 30 minutes I just lose patience.
So thank God for jello because the pediatrician said she can't eat too much jello and it will help keep her hydrated.
