So we just got back today from a few days at the shore. We stayed in Lewes DE and visited Rehoboth Beach and the boardwalk.
The first day at the beach was a not a success. We had to walk, what seemed like a mile in very deep sand, dragging Cailyn in her stroller and all our crap for the beach. It was painful and by the time we got our cabana/umbrella up our feet were burning on the sand. So we got Cailyn in her suit and took her down to the water. The air was probably high 90s and then the water temp was 71 degrees, chilly, chilly.
Cailyn got scared with the loud crash of the waves, didn't like the temp of the water and I think got some salt water in her eyes, all around she was miserable.
We decided to try again on Wednesday and was able to park near the boardwalk and not have to trek through the deep sand. That was much better for Mommy and Daddy. Then we got Cailyn dressed in her suit and attempted the water again. This time was much better. We were able to sit at the shoreline with her, so the water would just wash over her legs and up to about mid waist when she was sitting in my lap. It was chilly again but she was ok and we were able to stay at the beach a few hours.
Another interesting item from our trip is my back suntan. I had a bathing suit with a circle cut out of the back on the first day and then the second day I had a bathing suit with a criss-cross. The result was a suntan that looks like a circle with a big X in the middle. Curt proceeded to tell me it's the X-Men symbol--lovely.
