3rd Child Birth Class Last Night

Last night was our 3rd Child Birth class. We practiced breathing and most importantly took a tour of the Birthing Inn. For some reason I was under the impression that you Labor, Deliver and then Recover all in the same room but its two different rooms. There's the Labor and Delivery room and then the postpartum rooms where you stay after the baby is born. Its a nice set up and this wing of the hospital is just Maternity.

There's a very uncomfortable pull out chair/bed so Curt can stay in the room as well. After the baby is born you get 48 hours in the hospital unless its a C-section then you get 4 days so we'll see how that all works out. The thing I did like is that there are a few different types of do not disturb signs for the doors, Mother Resting, Breast Pump in use etc. You can either have the baby stay with you or be sent to the nursery for a while if you need some rest. I'd prefer she stay with me but I'm going to try to go with it and if I'm just zonked ask the nurses for help.

I've also changed my mind a little on the use of drugs. I was all about the give me drugs---I want my epidural--- but once you get it you are stuck in bed and have to have a catheter. So I might try to hold off longer than I originally intended so I can get up, move and walk around.

We're still working on getting the house ready for the new arrival. Had another trip to Goodwill with some unwanted furniture, so slowly but surely its coming together. We have this weekend and next weekend to finish up and then my Mom gets here Dec. 11 to help decorate the Nursery and then attend my shower on the 15th. Danielle will be in town for that as well. I figure this will be a good time to start washing baby clothes, get all that organized and also pack my bag for the hospital. I'd like it to be ready early just in case.
