I went home last night and Curt stayed with Cailyn. I got a much needed 5 full hours of sleep, and Elvis was happy as well.
Cailyn is ok. Still very lethargic and her blood sugar was really low so she got OJ again and they are going to recheck her numbers soon.
Yesterday we had two classes to sit through. One was generally about the diet and the other was more on the food and different items you can use. We also had to start checking Cailyn's urine levels for Ketones. You ask, well how do you get a 7 month old to pee on a stick? Its actually pretty easy. You put cotton balls in her diaper and then squeeze them out over the stick. We have to do that once a day, weigh her once a week and get her measured once a month.
The most excellent thing that happened yesterday was a conversation I had with our pharmacist Tom. The new pharmacy we go to in Ashburn is great. Tom is the pharmacist and his wife Lori works the counter. So I talked to him and he can get all the supplies she needs and the formula overnight. He can also compound all her medicine with sugar free, carb free solution so we can still do all her medicine the same way. So that was a huge relief.
We have 4 classes/meetings today including a meeting with parents of kids who are already on the diet so we can get tips. The support system has been great here.
She goes home tomorrow and it will be nice to be home.
